Russian forces are attempting to bypass Toretsk’s defenses, using underground routes to infiltrate the rear of Ukrainian forces, said Major Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Forces.

According to the Major, there was information yesterday about enemy attempts to use underground routes to enter the rear of Ukrainian troops in some streets of Toretsk. This is a new tactic the enemy is using in this direction of the front.

Trehubov clarified that Russian forces are not only attacking from the flanks in an attempt to bypass defenses but are also operating from below, using underground routes to penetrate the city.

"This is also a priority direction - Russians are trying to use all possible ways to outflank Ukrainian troops," he noted.

At this stage, the battles in Toretsk became urban warfare. The enemy attempts to enter the city from multiple directions.

"In Pokrovsk, Russia is trying to break through around the city. In Toretsk, however, these are purely urban battles," the Major explained.

Russian forces try to outflank Toretsk, but adjacent brigades are actively holding them back. Overall, fighting in the city has intensified.
