Russians used the Easter truce to replenish their forces and redeploy equipment to the front lines, says Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"There was effectively no Easter truce on the front lines. The Russians used it to replenish their forces and redeploy equipment," Trehubov says.

The spokesperson notes that the intensity of combat operations over the past 24 hours did not decrease at all. There were 18 Russian assaults, which is a standard figure.

"In fact, the ceasefire was merely a political statement by Russia. In areas where there was little fighting, the Russians were reinforcing their forces and rebuilding their offensive capabilities," he adds.

Russia violated Easter ceasefire

In early April, Ukraine proposed a ceasefire to Russia for Easter.

At that time, Russia did not provide a clear response, and on April 9, Vladimir Putin announced that the ceasefire would last from 4 p.m. on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12.

Despite the truce, by the evening of April 11, it became known that the Russians had violated the ceasefire 469 times starting at 4 p.m. By the morning of April 12, that number had reached 1,723 incidents.

Russian attacks continued throughout the day.

Additionally, despite the ceasefire declared for Easter, Russians attacked medical personnel in the Sumy region. Using a drone, they struck an ambulance.
