Despite Russia’s declared Easter ceasefire, hostilities on the frontline did not stop. As of the morning of April 12, more than 2,000 clashes had taken place along the front, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, from 4 pm until the end of the day, 1,723 violations of the ceasefire regime were recorded. Among them were 25 assault actions, 365 shellings, 566 strikes by Lancet- and Molniya-type kamikaze drones, as well as 767 FPV drone attacks. At the same time, no missile strikes, use of guided aerial bombs, or Shahed-type drones were recorded.

As of 7 am on April 12, the number of violations had increased to 2,299 cases. Overnight, 28 assaults, 479 shellings, 747 kamikaze drone strikes, and 1,045 FPV drone attacks were recorded. As before, there were no strikes by missiles or aerial strike systems.

Easter ceasefire

In early April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed introducing a ceasefire regime for the Easter holidays. No official agreement from the Kremlin was voiced.

On April 9, Vladimir Putin announced an Easter ceasefire, which was to be in effect from April 11 at 4 pm until the end of April 12.

In response, Ukraine stated its readiness for reciprocal steps in the event of an actual cessation of hostilities and called for extending the silence regime beyond the holidays.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after the ceasefire was announced, Russia continued combat operations.
