Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 1

As of 4:00 PM (Kyiv time), there have been 57 combat engagements on the frontlines since the beginning of the day. In addition to attacks on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions, Russians continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with missile, air, and artillery strikes, informs the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy shelling
The General Staff reported that today, communities in the following areas were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire:
- Brantsivka, Bratenytsia, Hirka in Sumy region
- Mkhy, Halahanivka, Mykolaivka in Chernihiv region
- Tymofiivka in Kharkiv region
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces carried out airstrikes with guided aerial bombs on Okhrimivka, Makarove, and Hraniv.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched three attacks near the settlements of Novoosynove and Zahryzove, and two battles are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russians carried out six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novyi and Novomykhailivka during the day. Four battles are still ongoing. Ukrainian troops are holding their ground and inflicting losses on the enemy. Borova and Bohuslavka came under airstrikes.
In the Toretsk direction, 10 combat engagements occurred since the start of the day near the settlements of Krymske, Dachne, Toretsk, and Diliivka. One engagement is ongoing. Airstrikes targeted Kostiantynivka and Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted 15 times to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Nova Poltavka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Pokrovsk, Pishchane, Udachne, Preobrazhenka, Bohdanivka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. Ukrainian forces repelled 13 of the enemy's attacks, and two engagements are still ongoing. Additionally, enemy aviation struck guided bombs on Novopavlivka and Novoukrainka.
In the Novopavlivka direction, five Russian attacks occurred near Kostiantynopil and Skudne.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy assaults near Pryvilne and Charivne. Airstrikes targeted Ternove, Huliaipole, and Zaliznychne.
In the Orikhiv direction, three combat engagements occurred, one of which was repelled by Ukrainian forces. Russians are attempting to advance, with air support, in the areas of Piatykhatky and Kamianske.
In the Prydniprovsky direction, one combat engagement is ongoing.
In Russia's Kursk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy attacks, with two ongoing engagements. Additionally, the enemy carried out 14 airstrikes, dropped 17 guided bombs, and fired 210 artillery shells at our positions and settlements.
In the Kharkiv, Siversk, and Kramatorsk directions, Russian forces did not carry out active offensive operations.
There were no major changes in the situation in other directions.
As a reminder, over the past 24 hours, from February 28 to March 1, Russian military losses in the war against Ukraine amounted to 1,050 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed a significant amount of enemy military equipment.
