Since the beginning of the day, September 5, 111 combat engagements have occurred at the frontline. Russian forces continue to assault the positions of Ukrainian defenders in almost all directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

According to the General Staff, the border areas of the Sumy region continue to suffer from Russian artillery and mortar shelling. Thus, today the Russian army fired on the settlements of Bobylivka, Porozok, Stepok and Pokrovka.

In addition, the Russian army launched air strikes with guided bombs on Sumy, Hrytsenkove, Simeikine, Partyzanske, Yampol, Yunakivka, Richky, Kyianytsia and Nova Sich.

Situation in the directions

Six firefights took place in the Kharkiv direction. The enemy assaulted the defensive lines of Ukrainian units near Vovchansk, where two clashes are still ongoing. The Russian forces also carried out an air strike on Kharkiv.

In the Kupiansk direction, 10 combat engagements took place since the beginning of the day. The enemy conducted offensive actions near Synkivka, Tabaivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova and Andriivka. Six attacks are currently underway.

There were 13 combat engagements in the Lyman direction. The enemy attacked near Druzheliubivka, Cherneshchyna, Nevske, Makiivka and Novosadove. Three hostile attacks are currently underway. In addition, the Russian army struck Shyikivka twice with guided bombs.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped four Russian offensives near Verkhniokamianske and Spirne, where one battle is currently underway. The situation is under the control of Ukrainian troops.

Eight firefights took place in the Kramatorsk direction. The enemy tried to assault Ukrainian positions near Predtechyne, Ivanivske, Ivanopillia and Klishchiivka. Three attacks are still ongoing. In addition, the aggressor's aircraft dropped guided bombs near Chasiv Yar and Ivanopillia.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions near Toretsk and Nelipivka. Six combat engagements were completed, five are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy carried out 27 assault attacks in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Novohrodivka, Novotroitske, Hrodivka and Mykhailivka. The Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the Russian offensive and repelled 21 attacks, with six battles currently underway. Enemy losses in this area are being clarified.

In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy troops attacked 23 times near Lysivka, Ukrainske, Halytsynivka, Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka and Heorhiivka. Nineteen attempts to advance were repelled, four are still ongoing.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy assaulted the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces six times, including near Vodiane and Vuhledar. Four battles are over, two are still ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, the Russian army fired on Bilohiria with unguided air-to-surface missiles without any combat engagements, but with the involvement of aviation.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy conducted an offensive near Robotyne. The battle is still ongoing.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian army suffered a loss, having attacked the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders two times.

“In other directions, the operational situation remains unchanged,” the General Staff added.

Situation at the front and Russian losses

According to the General Staff, 138 combat engagements took place on the front line over the past day, September 4. In a number of directions, the enemy used aircraft.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost more than 621,000 troops.

Over the past day, the Defense Forces eliminated another 1,200 Russian soldiers. They also destroyed 6 tanks, 21 armored combat vehicles, 31 artillery systems and other enemy equipment.
