Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 27

Ukrainian soldiers hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, repelling attacks by Russian forces near Novobakhmutivka (Donetsk region) and hitting two control points of the occupiers, according to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling continues
The enemy persists in disregarding the laws and customs of war, using terror tactics, and striking both military and civilian objects. The adversary actively deploys tactical aviation and FPV-type quadcopters, conducting assault actions supported by armored vehicles.
During the past day, there have been 49 combat engagements. The enemy delivered 67 airstrikes and conducted 12 artillery shellings using multiple rocket launcher systems on our troops' positions and civilian settlements.
Regrettably, due to Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential houses, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure have suffered destruction and damage.
The situation on the fronts
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation. There are no signs of the formation of advancing groups detected. Identified units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are performing tasks in border areas with Ukraine.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.
Over 20 settlements, including Volodymyrivka, Novovasylivka, and Popivka in the Sumy region; Losivka, Bochkove, and Krasne Pershe in the Kharkiv region, have been shelled by enemy artillery and mortars.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka and east of Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. Additionally, the enemy conducted an airstrike in the area of Ivanivka.
Approximately 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in the Kharkiv region, were under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, Defense Forces repelled 3 enemy attacks in the area of Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defense of our forces. The occupiers also conducted an aviation strike near Spirne in the Donetsk region.
More than 10 settlements, including Nevske in the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebrianka, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, suffered from enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Bakhmut direction, defense forces repelled 2 enemy attacks near Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 settlements, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Stupochky in the Donetsk region, were under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and another 15 attacks near Severne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
Approximately 10 settlements, including Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region, were shelled by enemy artillery and mortars.
In the Maryinka direction, Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, supported by aviation, conducted 3 unsuccessful attacks.
Settlements such as Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Kurakhove, Pobeda, Yelizavetivka, and Katerynivka, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions. Russian forces carried out an aviation strike in the area of the settlement Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region. Approximately 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhainе in the Donetsk region, were shelled by enemy artillery and mortars.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Defense Forces repelled 2 attacks west of Verbovе and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to displace our units from occupied positions. Additionally, the enemy conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Orihove and Preobrazhenka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
More than 25 settlements, including Poltavka, Luhivske, Novodanylіvka, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Kamianske, and Plavne in the Zaporizhzhia region, were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the area of responsibility of the Southern Operational Command Odesa in the Kherson direction, settlements such as Berislav, Kherson, and Stanislav in the Kherson region, were subjected to enemy artillery shelling.
The enemy also conducted aviation strikes in the areas of Chervonyi Maiak, Zmiiivka, and Novoberyslav in the Kherson region.
The offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The occupiers are not backing down from their intention to dislodge Ukrainian units from the footholds on the right bank of the Dnipro River. During the day, the enemy attempted 10 unsuccessful assaults on our troops' positions, facing staunch resistance and suffering significant losses.
Ukrainian units are steadfastly maintaining their defense, holding onto their positions and inflicting fire damage on the enemy.
Enemy losses
Throughout the day, our aviation conducted strikes in 10 areas where the enemy concentrated personnel, weaponry, and military equipment.
Rocket forces struck 5 areas where the enemy concentrated personnel, weaponry, 2 command points, and 4 ammunition depots.
It should be noted that the total number of losses in the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion amounts to 355,750 military personnel.
