Russia-Ukraine war: frontline update as of August 1

Ukrainian troops advance on the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, repel an enemy attack near Avdiivka, and destroy five enemy anti-aircraft defense systems, according to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the past 24 hours, the enemy carried out 1 missile strike, 49 airstrikes, and 33 rocket attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. The probability of rocket and aviation strikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high.
Frontline situation
There were 26 armed clashes during the day.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy conducted artillery and mortar shelling on more than 20 settlements.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy shelled several settlements, including Topoli, Kamianka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kupiansk, and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted artillery shelling on settlements such as Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions north and west of Klyshchivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, under heavy enemy aviation and artillery fire, our defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian forces in the Avdiivka area. Artillery shelling also affected more than 10 settlements, including Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Karlivka, and Novobakhmutivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the defense forces continue to counter Russian forces' advances in the Maryinka area. The enemy conducted aviation attacks in the Krasnohorivka region and shelled over 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, and Hostre in the Donetsk region.
In the Shchastia direction, the enemy made attempts to restore lost positions east of Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Vodiane, Blohodatne, and Zolota Niva in the Donetsk region, were shelled by enemy artillery.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy concentrates its main efforts to prevent further advancement of our troops. The enemy conducted aviation attacks in the Orikhove region of Zaporizhzhia.
In the Kherson direction, artillery shelling affected over 10 settlements, including Sadove, Tokarivka, Antonivka, Mykhailivka, and the city of Kherson.
Ukrainian forces continue their offensive operations on the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidating on achieved positions and implementing counter-battery measures.
Losses of the enemy
During the day, Ukrainian defense aviation conducted 7 strikes on areas with enemy personnel, weaponry, and military equipment concentration, 1 strike on the command post, and 1 strike on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile complex.
Missile forces and artillery units during the day hit 10 enemy artillery systems on firing positions, 4 radio-electronic warfare stations, 4 command posts, 1 area with weaponry and military equipment concentration, 5 anti-aircraft defense systems, 3 areas with enemy personnel concentration, and 2 other significant enemy objects.
The total number of Russian army losses since the invasion began is 246,690 military personnel.
