On the night of November 9, Russian forces attacked the first large biomass-powered thermal power plant in Ukraine, reports Andriy Grinenko, Founder, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Clear Energy Group.
He said the attack targeted the plant the company built in 2016. Three Russian drones struck it overnight.
"It became a benchmark for the industry — the first large biomass plant to prove to Ukraine that energy independence starts with local resources," Grinenko wrote.
He added that the project was always special to him because of the people "who built it with faith in a strong, self-sufficient country."
Fortunately, there were no casualties. Photos show visible damage to the plant.

Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure
This fall, Russia resumed regular and massive attacks on Ukraine's energy sector. On the night of November 8, Russian forces carried out a combined strike on the country's energy infrastructure. Several regions experienced emergency power outages, and some settlements were left completely without electricity.
During the day, PJSC Centerenergo reported that both of its thermal power plants had halted operations and were not generating electricity due to Russian attacks. The company added that this was the largest attack on its facilities since the start of the war.
Additionally, DTEK Group reported that Russian forces struck their thermal power plant, causing serious damage to equipment.
