On the afternoon of September 8, Russia launched an attack on the offices of the television channels We Are Ukraine and We Are Ukraine+. The main impact was on the newsroom and staff offices. There were casualties as a result of the Russian attack.

At the time of the Russian strike, the We Are Ukraine TV channel was broadcasting live as part of the national telethon, United News.

Rescue workers and medical personnel are on the scene. The injured are receiving the necessary care.

Zelenskyy responds to Russian attack

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the Russian drone strike on media outlets an attack on journalists.

"Shaheds against the media mark a new chapter in Russia's degradation, and Europe and the world must certainly respond to this," Zelenskyy states.

He emphasizes that no strike against Ukraine or Ukrainians should go unpunished.

"Russia must be stopped, and this is possible only through joint efforts," the President adds.

This is the second attack on the TV channel in the past two weeks. On August 20, a Russian strike also damaged the “We Are Ukraine” premises: windows were shattered, the newsroom sustained significant damage, and the ceiling partially collapsed in the hallways.

Russian attack on Kyiv on September 8

As a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on September 8, an office building caught fire in the Solomianskyi district; there is destruction and, according to preliminary reports, casualties. Medical personnel were also called to the Shevchenkivskyi district, where the evacuation of people is ongoing.

As a result of the nighttime Russian attack on Kyiv, at least 14 high-rise buildings were damaged, as well as a school, a clinic, a supermarket, and a gas station. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal investigation into this war crime.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during the nighttime strike, Russians deliberately sought to inflict maximum harm on the capital's civilian population.

Later, Ukraine's Interior Minister Ivan Vyhovskyi reported that the number of casualties resulting from Russia's combined attack on Kyiv had risen to 16.
