Russia strikes Ukraine with 130 drones and 8 missiles overnight

On the night of July 16–17, Russia launched a massive missile and drone strike against Ukraine. Some of the strikes hit several regions of the country, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
On the night of July 16–17, from 6 p.m. until morning Kyiv time, Russia used various types of weapons. The strike was launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea and from Russian territory.
Russia struck Ukraine with:
- 1 Kh-31P anti-radar missile
- 7 Kh-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles
- 130 Shahed-type strike drones, including jet-powered ones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.
Russian drones were launched from several directions—Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, and Oryol in Russia, as well as from the occupied cities of Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.
As of 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized:
- 5 Kh-59/69 guided missiles
- 115 Russian drones of various types.
The shoot-downs were recorded in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.
Russia struck 7 locations with 2 missiles and 8 attack drones. Debris from downed targets fell in five additional locations.
A Kh-31P missile failed to reach its target.
Recently, the Russians struck Sumy with guided aerial bombs, and hits were recorded in the city.
In addition, Russia launched a missile strike on Odesa, resulting in fatalities. Among the victims was a woman who was walking in a park with her children. The children survived.
