Russia strikes Ukraine's Odesa suburbs as reports emerge of hit on Epicentr hypermarket

A Russian jet-powered drone targeted a post office inside a shopping center in a suburb of Odesa during the day on August 16, Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper reports.
"The enemy cynically attacked a post office inside a shopping center in a suburb of Odesa with a jet-powered drone," he said.
The strike injured a 42-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. Both were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds. Medics are providing them with all necessary medical care.
Information about the consequences of the most recent strike is still being clarified.
Meanwhile, local Telegram channels reported a strike on an Epicentr store in Odesa and shared footage from the scene of the attack. However, there is no official information at this time.
Russia's attacks on Ukraine
As previously reported, overnight on August 16, the Russian army attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Two people were injured, while fires and destruction were reported in the Obolonskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of the capital city.
In particular, Russian forces struck the book market at Pochaina. Rescuers are still working to extinguish fires following the strikes.
Russians also struck industrial facilities in the city of Kryvyi Rih overnight. Fires broke out at the impact sites. Two people were killed, and 13 others were injured in the attack.
It was later reported that ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine's largest steel plant, was hit in a Russian missile attack, which also resulted in fatalities and injuries. The plant partially suspended operations.
