Russia strikes Ukraine's Odesa region: Thousands left without power and water, transportation difficulties

On the morning of December 12, approximately 90,000 residents remain without power due to a Russian attack in the Odesa region overnight. There are interruptions in the water supply, and public transport is disrupted, according to Odesa regional military administration head Oleh Kiper.
To assist the regions, the government is taking measures to optimize energy consumption in order to free up additional electricity.
"An assessment of the damage and possibilities for reconnection is currently underway. Specialists are already working on restoration. Critical infrastructure and enterprises are switching to generator power," the statement says.
The head of the Odesa regional military administration adds that water supply disruptions have also been reported in connection with the attacks. Public transport is experiencing difficulties.
In Odesa, bus services have been increased on routes that duplicate electric transport, and three social routes have been added.
Currently, 161 humanitarian centers have been set up in Odesa, and 356 in the region. Police and rescue workers are providing support at 18 more centers.
According to Kiper, over 400 people have already visited the resilience centers.
Russian attack on Odesa region on December 12
Last night, Russians once again launched drone strikes on energy infrastructure facilities in the region.
DTEK reported that their substation had been damaged - it was already the 20th substation to suffer significant damage in the Odesa region. Another energy company's facility in the Odesa region was also hit.
In addition, during the night attack on the Odesa region, a warehouse, an administrative building, and a garage were damaged. Fires broke out and were extinguished by rescuers.
No information about casualties or injuries has been received.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 80 drones against Ukraine last night. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 64 Russian drones.
12 Russian strike drones were recorded hitting 8 locations, and debris from downed drones was found at 3 locations.
