Russia still does not want to end its war against Ukraine. Pressure from the US government has not forced it to take this step, said Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto in an interview with Reuters.

"Nothing has changed with the Russians. It is clear the Russians want to continue with the attacks as they have over the past three years," Crosetto emphasized.

The Minister also criticized Israel’s recent actions in the Gaza Strip, particularly the strike on a hospital and other attacks that resulted in the deaths of civilians, including paramedics.

"For me, a Palestinian child is worth as much as a Ukrainian child or an Italian child. A Palestinian hospital is worth as much as a Ukrainian hospital or an Italian hospital," he said, adding that Israel needs to acknowledge its mistakes.

It is worth noting that the Italian government supports US President Donald Trump and his policies.

However, as Reuters notes, ministers have privately expressed concern over Trump’s actions regarding Ukraine and have openly warned that Russia may attempt to deceive him.

Trump trusts Russia

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he believes Russia wants to end the war against Ukraine.

Just yesterday, on April 14, the American leader said he was expecting "very good proposals" regarding a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

Trump has also claimed that, in addition to Russian President Vladimir Putin, former US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are to blame for the war between Russia and Ukraine.
