Ukraine and Russia have not yet moved closer to holding a summit at the highest level. A meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin is only possible when the sides agree on an agenda, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Lavrov stressed that a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin has not been planned, but the Russian President is allegedly ready to meet once an agenda for the summit is prepared.

"For now, there is no agenda," Lavrov emphasized.

At the same time, according to him, Russia has agreed to show flexibility on a number of issues raised by US President Donald Trump during talks in Alaska.

A trilateral meeting of Zelenskyy, Trump, and Putin

After nearly three hours of talks between Trump and Putin in Alaska on August 15, international attention shifted to Washington, where on August 18, the US President held talks with the President of Ukraine.

European leaders also joined the discussions, discussing a range of issues, including security guarantees for Ukraine.

As a result of these consultations, the American side proposed holding a trilateral meeting of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia as early as August 22.

Zelenskyy declared his readiness to take part in such a format in any configuration, should the summit take place. At the same time, Russia has so far not publicly confirmed its participation and continues to put forward its own conditions, complicating agreement on the date and location.

European diplomats are actively working to find an optimal venue for a potential summit, taking into account the complexity of the political situation and the need to ensure the security of all participants.
