Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 23: + 1,330 soldiers and 80 artillery systems

In the past day, from September 22 to 23, the Russian army lost 1,330 soldiers, 16 tanks, and 81 artillery systems on the front, according to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to September 23, 2024, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 643 750 (+1330) troops;
- tanks - 8784 (+16);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 17 252 (+30);
- artillery systems - 18 414 (+81);
- MLRS - 1197 (+2);
- anti-aircraft systems - 949;
- aircraft - 369;
- helicopters - 328;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 15 699 (+71);
- cruise missiles - 2,595;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 25 102 (+79);
- special equipment - 3145 (+1).
Frontline situation and shelling
According to ISW, the Defense Forces have advanced in the Luhansk region, while Russian troops are making gains in the Donetsk region.
The evening before, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia with a guided aerial bomb, damaging several buildings and causing injuries among civilians.
Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War discussed how the strikes on ammunition depots would impact the Russian army.
