In the city of Zaporizhzhia, five people were injured due to a Russian strike carried out late on the evening of September 22. Damage to buildings has been reported, and a fire broke out, according to Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, and the press service of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region.

“Russian army attacked Zaporizhzhia. Preliminary reports indicate that five people were injured,” the official stated.

He noted that the enemy strike partially destroyed buildings in the city.

“The blast wave and debris damaged nearby houses. A fire erupted. Rescuers are working at the scene,” he wrote.

The head of the Regional Military Administration added that information regarding the consequences of the Russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia is being clarified, and all necessary assistance is being provided to the victims.

According to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region, the Russian army reportedly used guided aerial bombs for the strikes on Zaporizhzhia and its surroundings in the evening.

It was noted that the Russian forces launched six strikes between 22:19 and 23:04 on the territory of the regional center and its district.

"Enemy munitions hit civilian infrastructure," the police reported.

One of the five injured - a woman - was rescued from a damaged building. Additionally, parked cars were ablaze, and nearby residential buildings sustained damage.

"Police officers, explosives experts, paramedics, rescuers, and other specialized services are working at the scene," stated the communication department of the Zaporizhzhia regional police.

Later, the head of the Regional Military Administration reported that the number of injured in Zaporizhzhia had risen to six.

He noted that tents were set up at two locations in the city where residents could seek assistance.

"A resilience point is operating around the clock near the site of the strike," the official stated.

What preceded this

Around eleven o'clock on Sunday, September 22, explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia. Before this, the Ukrainian Air Force had warned of the threat of enemy airstrikes and reported the launch of a guided aerial bomb by the adversary around 22:37.

Additionally, monitoring channels indicate that there had not been previous instances of Russian forces using guided aerial bombs for strikes on Zaporizhzhia.
