Russia reports another drone attack: Powerful fire broke out at oil refinery
On the night of February 3rd, Russia once again reported drone attacks, detected in the Belgorod and Volgograd regions. In the latter, a significant fire occurred at the Volgograd oil refinery as a result of the incident, according to the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, and Russian media.
Fire in Volgograd
Data on a powerful fire is confirmed by representatives of emergency services and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. It occurred as a result of a drone crash on the territory of the oil refinery in the Chervonoarmeyskii district of Volgograd. An explosion took place there.
It is noted that the fire has spread over an area of 300 square meters, and relevant services are currently working on the site to extinguish the fire.
As Russian Telegram channels report, the "LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka" oil refinery is on fire.
Later, the Emergency Situations Ministry of the Volgograd region stated that "the operational duty of the Unified State Dispatch Center received information about a fire in the Chervonoarmeyskii district of Volgograd."
"Upon the arrival of the first firefighting and rescue units, it was found that the burning of a fuel spill is occurring in an area of 300 square meters. Fire and rescue units of the Volgograd fire and rescue garrison are working on-site. There are no casualties or injuries reported at this time. The cause is being determined," according to a statement from the Russian agency.
Belgorod region
The governor of the Belgorod region also speaks about a drone attack. According to the official, a drone of aircraft type was allegedly eliminated by air defense systems. This occurred in the Novooskolskii city district.
Gladkov asserts that "there are no casualties."
"As a result of debris falling in the Podilkhy village, in one private house, windows were broken, the roof, facade, and fence were damaged, as well as a parked KAMAZ truck. A ground inspection of the territory will continue during daylight hours," the official's statement says.
Night drone attack in Russia
The authorities of the Voronezh region claimed a drone attack during the night.
According to the local governor, Alexander Gusev, the drone was detected and eliminated "by the next means of air defense" on its approach to Voronezh. According to him, there are no reported casualties or damage on the ground.
Other attacks on Russian oil refineries
On the night of January 31, a Ukrainian drone crashed on the territory of the Neva Oil Refinery in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense is behind this operation, as reported by a source to RBC-Ukraine in the security services.
It is noteworthy that attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian oil refineries are becoming increasingly systematic. Recently, a drone attacked one of the largest oil refineries in Yaroslavl.
Before this, RBC-Ukraine sources reported that SSU drones had struck an oil refinery in Tuapse, resulting in a powerful fire.
We also reported that SSU drones successfully targeted the Ust-Luga Oil oil terminal, which processes fuel supplied, in part, to the Russian military.
