Tonight, January 31, a Ukrainian drone crashed on the territory of the Nevsky Oil Refinery in Russian St. Petersburg. According to a source in the special services, the operation was organized and conducted by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

Although the praised Russian air defense systems were "working" as intended, the drone still managed to inflict damage on the enemy.
The source explained the Russians attempted to shoot down the Ukrainian UAV using the S-400 complex - the most powerful air defense system in the Russian arsenal. However, the interception proved ineffective, and the drone still fell on the territory of the Nevsky Oil Refinery.
"It is noteworthy that they used the S-400 to target our drones. It is very interesting to see how this Russian air defense system works, as the drone still fell on the territory of our target after the supposed interception," the source said.
According to the media outlet, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine is responsible for the operation.
Background
Earlier today, several Russian Telegram channels reported the drone crash on the territory of the Nevsky Mazut oil refinery in St. Petersburg.
Reportedly, an explosion at the refinery was heard around 04:00 am. The Russians claim that although the drone was "successfully shot down," several tanks and vehicles were still damaged when it fell.
A fire also occurred on the refinery's territory, supposedly quickly extinguished. According to Russian media, there are no casualties.
It is also known that during the UAV attack, the local Pulkovo airport implemented the "Kover" (Carpet) plan.
Other attacks on Russian refineries
Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries are becoming increasingly systematic. Recently, a drone targeted one of the largest oil refineries in Yaroslavl.
Before this, RBC-Ukraine sources reported that the Security Service of Ukraine's drones struck a refinery in Tuapse, resulting in a significant fire.
