In Russia, threats were made in response to US President Donald Trump's announcement that the United States would resume nuclear testing. The Kremlin stated that Washington had not sent any such notification to Moscow, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Commenting on Trump's announcement, Peskov said that "the United States is a sovereign country and has the right to make sovereign decisions." At the same time, he immediately added that the US had not informed Russia about its plans to conduct nuclear tests.

Peskov also claimed that the issue is supposedly unrelated to discussions on the New START Treaty.

"The fate of New START and nuclear tests are separate topics. The Kremlin does not consider this a new phase of the arms race," he said.

However, Peskov once again voiced threats toward the US, stating that Moscow expects that information about the tests of the Burevestnik and Poseidon missiles will be "correctly conveyed" to Trump.

A few days earlier, Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov claimed that on October 21, Russia had conducted successful tests of the Burevestnik missile. This missile is also nicknamed the "flying Chornobyl." So far, the only casualties it has caused are Russian military personnel and specialists.

Additionally, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, during a speech at a hospital, claimed the successful testing of the Poseidon underwater vehicle. It is also reportedly equipped with a nuclear power unit.

In response to this, US President Donald Trump said on October 29 that he had ordered the Pentagon to immediately begin testing America’s nuclear weapons. Explaining his order, Trump added that if other countries conduct tests, the United States has the right to do the same.
