Russia is preparing for a large war on the European continent in order to be capable of starting hostilities in 2029 or 2030, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"More pressure on Russia is needed. Considering the situation on the battlefield, we do not see that Russia wants to stop. When we examine Russia's military industry, we see that it is increasing its production. And, according to our assessments, they want to continue this war," Zelenskyy said.
According to the Ukrainian president, it must be acknowledged that Russia wants a large war to be capable of starting hostilities on the European continent in 2029 or 2030.
"We see this as a preeminent challenge. We must consider how to prevent them from happening in Ukraine now. But also do everything to reduce their capabilities. Do not give them money, which they can still receive from energy resources. And not give them weapons," the head of state added.
Preparation of Russia for war against Europe
Recently, Western media have increasingly reported on Russia's preparations for an invasion of European countries and a war with NATO states.
Earlier, Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, stated that Russia employs a hybrid approach in its relations with European countries. In particular, this includes the use of drones and support for pro-Russian forces.
In April, The Wall Street Journal reported on the preparation of additional troops near Europe's borders.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius did not rule out the possibility of a war between Russia and NATO, urging allies to be prepared for potential threats.
According to German intelligence, Russia is increasing defense spending and preparing for an invasion of Europe closer to 2030.
