Russian forces are losing more than 400 troops to capture just one square kilometer of territory in Ukraine's Donetsk region, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said.
According to Syrskyi, he met with Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine.
During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine briefed his American counterpart on the operational situation on the battlefield.
"Ukrainian soldiers are making every effort to ensure that every step the enemy takes is as costly and exhausting as possible. For example, in Ukraine's Donetsk region, the Russian army loses more than 400 soldiers to capture just one square kilometer of territory," Syrskyi said.
He also stressed that Ukraine must seize the strategic initiative, which is why it is pursuing an active defense strategy.
The Commander-in-Chief noted that the enemy's offensive potential is being successfully reduced and its ability to carry out massive missile and air strikes is being limited.
To achieve this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are striking facilities of Russia's military-industrial complex at distances of up to 2,000 km.
"As part of Middle Strike, we are also destroying the Russians' logistics network at distances of up to 200-300 km from the front line. This will also have an impact on the battlefield," Syrskyi added.
Recently, Syrskyi announced the failure of Russia's large-scale offensive.
In addition, he summed up the results of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's strikes against the Russian army in June 2026.
It also became known that Ukraine is expanding a successful experiment aimed at rescuing wounded soldiers on the frontline.
