In the night of October 6, Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on Ukraine using various types of missiles and strike drones. Ukrainian forces detected and tracked over 90 hostile aerial targets, according to the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian forces launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, one Iskander-K cruise missile, one Kh-59/69 guided air missile, and 87 Shahed drones from the territories of Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Kursk (Russia).

The Ukrainian Air Force, with the support of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, defended against the attack. As a result of the engagement, two missiles and 56 kamikaze drones were destroyed in various regions, including Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv.

As of 09:00, there was confirmed loss of locations for an additional 25 drones due to active countermeasures from electronic warfare systems. Four drones are still in Ukrainian airspace, and combat operations are ongoing.

Night attack on Ukraine

On the night of October 6, Russian troops again attacked Ukraine with kamikaze drones. After 23:00, explosions were heard in Odesa, and military officials warned of the threat of new drone strikes.

In Odesa, civil infrastructure was damaged due to drone strikes, particularly warehouse facilities and cargo vehicles.

Explosions were also reported in Kyiv. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, enemy drones approached the capital in waves from different directions. Air raid sirens were activated three times in the city, lasting over five hours in total.
