Russia launches multi-direction drone attack, air defenses respond

On the night of April 4, Russia attacked Ukraine with 286 strike drones from six directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down the majority of the enemy UAVs, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
From 6:00 p.m. on April 3 to the morning of April 4, Russians launched 286 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerber, Italmas, and other types, from the directions of Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk — all in Russia.
About 200 of the drones were Shaheds.
The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare units, UAV units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 7:00 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 260 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerber, Italmas, and other types, across the north, south, east, and center of the country.
There were confirmed hits by 11 strike drones at 10 locations, as well as downed drone debris at six locations.
"The attack is ongoing, with about 20 enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.
Shelling of Ukraine
Earlier, on the morning of April 4, Russians attacked Kyiv with drones. Falling debris caused a fire in an office building in one district.
The occupiers also struck Sumy overnight with drones, hitting a high-rise building that immediately caught fire.
Yesterday, Kharkiv experienced one of the heaviest attacks on the city, with 37 hits recorded across 18 different locations. Russians used ballistic missiles and drones.
