Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with a Kinzhal missile and more than 100 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
What was used in the attack, and where did it come from
On the night of May 28, Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine. The enemy used a Kinzhal aeroballistic missile, launched from the airspace over Russia's Lipetsk region.
Along with the missile, Russia launched 147 attack drones of various types:
-
Shahed;
-
Gerbera;
-
Italmas;
-
Drones of other modifications.
There were also jet-powered UAVs. The drones were launched from several directions — Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and the temporarily occupied Crimea (Hvardiiske and Chauda).
According to preliminary data as of 08:00 AM, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or suppressed 138 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of UAVs.
Hits by a Kinzhal aeroballistic missile and nine attack drones were recorded at seven locations. Debris from downed drones fell at six locations.
Earlier, Russia attacked the Ukrainian city of Kherson. Projectiles hit a playground in the Korabelnyi district. A mother and her two daughters, aged three and six, came under attack, and a man was killed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a letter to US President Donald Trump, revealed details of the massive attack on May 24. During that strike, Russia used two Oreshnik missiles, one of which hit the Kyiv region.
