As a result of another large-scale Russian attack on Ukrainian territory, the use of two medium-range ballistic missiles Oreshnik was recorded. One of them struck the Kyiv region, according to a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to US President Donald Trump and Congress.

Where the Oreshnik missiles struck

As the president wrote, during the air attack, Russian forces launched two new-type medium-range ballistic missiles Oreshnik at different regions of the country.

One of these missiles struck the Kyiv region.

The other missile, according to available data, fell on temporarily occupied territory in the Donetsk region.

How many and what type of weapons the enemy used

For another strike, the Russian army deployed a massive arsenal, launching more than 80 missiles of various types and hundreds of attack drones.

In particular, the occupying forces used 54 cruise missiles, 30 ballistic missiles, two air-launched ballistic missiles Kinzhal, and three hypersonic Zircon missiles.

In addition, around 600 attack drones were used against Ukraine.

A significant number of them were Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones.

This weapon has already demonstrated its destructive power in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region, where it has been used by Iranian forces.

Massive strike on Kyiv and consequences

On the night of May 24, Russia carried out a massive combined strike on Ukraine using attack drones as well as air-, sea-, and ground-based missiles, with Kyiv being the main target of the attack.

During this attack, the enemy launched a total of 90 missiles of various types and 600 drones, including Oreshnik, Zircon, and other weapons, directed at the capital.

As a result of the attack, explosions were recorded in all districts of the city. The greatest destruction occurred in the Lukianivka area, where numerous fires broke out due to impacts, completely destroying a shopping and entertainment center, a local market, and damaging residential buildings.

Later, specialists collected all remains of the Oreshnik ballistic missile used during the attack; the volume of recovered fragments exceeded initial expectations.

All collected parts were sent for specialized analysis for a detailed study, although the overall effectiveness of this strike using Russia’s latest weapons turned out to be low.
