Russia has conducted the strongest blow to Ukraine's energy sector since the beginning of the year. DTEK energy company explains what will happen with electricity now.
Russia launched its most powerful strike on the energy sector since the beginning of 2026. The energy sector of eight regions of Ukraine was attacked.
"And this is during the most severe frosts," the company emphasizes.
In general, Russia struck power generation and distribution facilities.
Consequences of Russian attack in various regions of Ukraine
"Russian strikes hit thermal power plants and thermal power stations that were operating in heating mode in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro. In particular, DTEK's thermal power plants were severely damaged," citizens report.
In addition, Russia struck DTEK facilities in the south of the Odesa region with missiles and drones, leaving thousands of people without electricity.
In Kyiv, due to the consequences of the Russian attack, part of the left bank was forced to switch to emergency power cuts, namely the Dniprovskyi and Darnitskyi districts.
Meanwhile, temporary schedules are in effect on the right bank of Kyiv.
"The power system is operating with severe restrictions. Energy companies are doing everything possible to stabilize the power supply to the affected areas. The lights are staying on," DTEK concludes.
On the night of Tuesday, February 3, Russia carried out a targeted massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure with over 70 missiles and 450 strike drones.
Various regions, as well as the city of Kyiv, came under Russian fire. At least 9 people are known to have been injured, and significant damage has been reported in various locations.
