Azerbaijan summons Russian ambassador over strikes
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed a formal note of protest to Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov following a recent strike on a SOCAR gas station in the Mykolaiv region.
Baku stated that the attack on the evening of July 5 was not an isolated incident.
According to Azerbaijani diplomats, previous hostilities had already damaged several SOCAR-owned facilities in the Odesa region, including a gas distribution compressor station and an oil depot. Those incidents resulted in significant material damage and left several employees injured.
Other Azerbaijani sites damaged by Russian strikes
Furthermore, Azerbaijan pointed out that Russian strikes had previously hit the Azerbaijani Embassy building in Kyiv and the Honorary Consulate in Kharkiv.
Baku has called on Moscow to provide an official explanation, conduct a comprehensive investigation into all aforementioned incidents, and strictly adhere to its international obligations regarding the protection of civilian infrastructure and diplomatic missions.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Russia has struck Azerbaijan’s energy infrastructure and embassy in Ukraine three times. In response, the country issued special statements, notified the ambassador, and handed a note.
Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the Foreign Ministry building, where a protest was expressed over the fall of an Iskander missile on the territory of the Azerbaijani embassy in Kyiv back in November 2025.
