Russia launched a swarm of attack drones and a missile overnight. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of them, but some still reached their targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
What was launched and from where
On the night of June 25, Russia attacked Ukraine from several directions simultaneously. Specifically, it launched:
-
90 attack drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types, including jet-powered drones;
-
Parodiya decoy drones designed to distract air defenses;
-
One Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from temporarily occupied Crimea.
The drones were launched from Russian territory, including Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as occupied Crimea and the occupied part of the Donetsk region.
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or suppressed 83 enemy drones.
A ballistic missile and six attack drones struck seven different locations. Debris from intercepted targets fell at nine additional locations. The attack is ongoing.
On June 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that relay stations used to guide Shahed drones from Belarusian territory had stopped operating on June 22. It is not yet known whether they were dismantled.
Zelenskyy instructed Ukraine's intelligence agencies and military to act preemptively and strike facilities that Russia uses to escalate the war.
