According to agency representative Bernadette Castel-Hollingsworth, two warehouse employees were killed as a result of the strike.
"I send my deepest condolences to the families of the two warehouse workers who lost their lives in this horrific attack," she said.
The UN representative also expressed condolences to the families of other civilians killed in Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past 24 hours.
The warehouse was hit by a ballistic missile, which triggered a large fire at the site. Preliminary estimates suggest that around 900 pallets of humanitarian aid were destroyed, with a total value of over $1 million.
All of this aid was intended for displaced people and war-affected residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region and other frontline areas.
Among the destroyed supplies were:
- Blankets;
- Mattresses;
- Hygiene kits;
- Construction materials for repairing damaged housing.
UN emphasized the protection of humanitarian missions
The UN stressed that humanitarian workers and humanitarian facilities are protected under international law.
"These attacks must stop," Kastel-Hollingsworth said.
The agency is currently working with Ukrainian authorities and partners to replenish supplies and find new warehouse facilities.
It is worth noting that Russian forces had previously attacked UN humanitarian mission vehicles with FPV drones in the Khorneboy district of Kherson.
