Russian forces struck the settlement of Velykyi Burluk in the Kharkiv region. As a result of the attack, a 19th-century architectural monument, the Donets-Zakharzhevsky estate, was destroyed, according to the head of the Kupiansk District Military Administration, Andrii Kanashevych.

According to him, the strike took place today, April 7. After the hit, the historic estate caught fire.

Kanashevych stressed the site's historical significance, which had withstood the most difficult periods of the last century but did not survive modern Russian aggression.

"The 19th-century architectural monument, the Donets-Zakharzhevsky estate, whose construction was completed around 1835, which survived the turbulent 20th century, two devastating world wars, and the Soviet era with its hatred of national memory, was destroyed on April 7, 2026, by the same horde invasion," he said.

What is known about the Donets-Zakharzhevsky House

It is a local architectural monument (No. 511) located in the settlement of Velykyi Burluk, Kharkiv region.

The estate belonged to representatives of one branch of the Sloboda Cossack officer family of the Donets-Zakharzhevskys.

The building was constructed in the first quarter of the 19th century and completed around 1835. The house was built in the classical style.

Other elements of the estate, including outbuildings and the park, have not survived to this day.

The estate is also known for the fact that, according to one version, wooden tablets with inscriptions linked to the so-called Veles Book were allegedly found there.

In 1980, the building was officially included in the list of architectural monuments of local significance.
