Russian troops in the border areas of the Sumy region are conducting assaults with infantry groups. The enemy is also continuing to use mortars, barrel artillery, and multiple launch rocket systems, according to a spokesperson for the Siversk operational-tactical group of forces, Vadym Mysnyk.

"The enemy primarily uses infantry groups, as well as mortars and barrel artillery. Over the past day, there were two recorded attacks using multiple launch rocket systems," Mysnyk said.

According to him, enemy equipment in the border areas of the Sumy region is being maximally destroyed by the Defense Forces. In the Chernihiv region, the Russian troops used unguided aerial rockets from a helicopter to attack one of the settlements.

"We are recording the presence of enemy units along the entire border strip. They vary in training and composition. The highest concentration of enemy forces is in the border areas of the Sumy region, specifically in the area where our Defense Forces are conducting the Kursk operation. There, both the intensity of shelling and the enemy’s resource presence are at their peak," the spokesperson added.

Mysnyk noted that this direction remains strategically important for the enemy in terms of deploying Shahed and Geran-type strike drones, which constantly enter in dozens from the Kursk and Bryansk regions.

"In addition to other aerial components, the enemy is actively using FPV drones and dropping munitions from UAVs in the border areas. We have recorded various drone systems, including fiber-optic-controlled drones and UAVs like Molniya of different types," he said.

The spokesperson emphasized that the intensity of shelling in the border areas remains high, but there have been no drastic changes. The Russian troops are trying to bombard border communities using their entire arsenal of weapons.

Situation in the border areas

Recently, it was reported that Russian forces have nearly doubled the number of attacks on border areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

Additionally, the Russian army has increased its use of aerial bombs in attacks on the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. This tactic is an attempt to force Ukrainian forces to defend the entire border zone.
