Russian forces have nearly doubled the number of shelling attacks on border areas in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. Around 50 settlements came under fire over the past day, states Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the Siversk operational-tactical group of forces, during a national telethon live broadcast.

"Over the past day, we have recorded a nearly twofold increase in enemy shelling activity. Almost 50 border settlements came under fire — these include Chernihiv, Sumy, and parts of Kharkiv regions," Mysnyk said.

According to him, the enemy uses various types of shelling weapons: multiple launch rocket systems, tube artillery, and mortars. However, the primary method has been aerial attacks — dropping explosives from UAVs, FPV drones, unguided aerial rockets from helicopters, and guided aerial bombs from aircraft.

The spokesperson noted that the enemy is deploying all available types of drones along the border: fiber-optic drones, strike UAVs like Shahed and Geran-2, and drones used for dropping explosives.

Mysnyk also reported that Russian forces are employing a double-strike tactic targeting civilians in the border areas.

"Most of the victims of shelling or drone attacks are civilians living in the border areas. They target residential buildings, vehicles, and critical infrastructure. There have also been multiple instances where the enemy employs a double-strike tactic during evacuation and rescue operations by the Defense Forces, launching a second attack," he added.

At the same time, according to the spokesperson, the enemy continues to actively deploy sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs), with attempts to infiltrate Ukrainian territory being recorded.

"The enemy's use of DRGs remains active, with isolated attempts at infiltration. We have counter-sabotage reserves and all the necessary military and technical resources for their timely detection. We are studying their tactics," Mysnyk noted.

We recently reported that the Russian army has increasingly been attacking the Sumy and Chernihiv regions with aerial bombs. This is part of the enemy's effort to force Ukrainian troops to defend the entire border area.
