Russia has announced plans to create surface drones. Ukraine has successfully employed its own developments in this field, reports Telegram channel TASS.

Reportedly, the new drone will be equipped with a payload of up to 10 kg, with the possibility of increasing it to 100 kg.

According to a source, the surface vessels used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are expensive NATO solutions. Moreover, Ukrainian Forces do not use them as much as they would like.

"Our solution will cost less because we will manufacture it in Russia. If necessary, we can quickly increase production," the source stated.

Supposedly, the surface drone will be able to travel a distance of up to 20 kilometers. The project incorporates the best ideas from Russian ship modeling. The hulls of the vessels will be made of composite materials to avoid detection by radar.

Official trials are scheduled to take place in February 2024.

The work of Ukrainian maritime drones

Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, announced that Ukraine has developed a unique maritime drone called Morskyi Maliuk (Sea Baby). It is manufactured at underground plants in Ukraine.

Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Russian occupiers are attempting to copy Ukrainian maritime drones, posing a threat to the Russian fleet.
