Russian forces have captured three settlements during an offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region, while Zelenskyy held a meeting in Kherson on the city’s defense against Russian shelling.

EU Commission to create new intelligence agency

According to the Financial Times, the European Commission has begun work on establishing a new intelligence body that will operate under the direct leadership of President Ursula von der Leyen.

The agency's goal is to improve coordination and the use of information collected by the national security services of EU member states.

Ukrainian forces strike Saratov refinery, Feodosia oil terminal, and other enemy targets in Donetsk

Explosions were reported at the Saratov refinery, which produces over 20 types of petroleum products, followed by massive fires in the area. The Feodosia Sea Oil Terminal in Crimea was also hit, with strikes on storage tanks.

Additionally, drones targeted enemy supply depots in Donetsk and concentrations of personnel near Ocheretyne in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region.

The Yanchang Petroleum refinery has refused to purchase Russian oil in its latest tender for crude oil deliveries from December through mid-February. Previously, it regularly bought Russian oil, usually one shipment per month.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that in October, Ukrainian aviation drones struck 77,000 enemy targets. The best combat results were achieved by FPV drones and heavy bombers.

He added that Russian forces are copying Ukrainian practices, including forming drone regiments and interceptor drones, dedicating significant resources to this effort.

Zelenskyy holds meeting in Kherson on city defense against Russian attacks

"Today, I held a meeting with all those responsible for security. Our military, including the Unmanned Systems Forces, was also present. We determined what Kherson needs to strengthen its defense. The city faces thousands of Russian drone strikes every month, a near-constant threat,” Zelenskyy said.

He also announced that the Unmanned Systems Forces, Birds of the Madyar, and other units will increase defensive capabilities in Kherson.

According to NABU and SAP, charges were filed against the head of a criminal organization. Authorities have not publicly named him, but RBC-Ukraine sources confirm it is Timur Mindich.

Charges were also filed against former energy ministry advisor Ihor Mironyuk, Energoatom security director Dmytro Basov, and four back-office employees. Five of these individuals have been detained.

The UK, which oversees several Caribbean territories, has long assisted the US in detecting vessels suspected of drug trafficking, allowing the US Coast Guard to intercept them.

However, in September, the US began striking these vessels, prompting UK concerns that its intelligence would be used to select targets.

According to Oleksandr Syrskyi, Russian forces increased activity in Zaporizhzhia amid fog.

"The situation has significantly worsened in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions, where the enemy, using their numerical superiority in forces and equipment, advanced during intense fighting and captured three settlements," he said.

He added that Ukrainian defenders are engaged in exhausting battles for Rivnopillia and Yablukove.
