Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia expects information from the United States regarding the US-Ukrainian negotiations taking place today in Saudi Arabia, the Russian news agency Interfax reports.

"Today, there will be US-Ukrainian contacts in Jeddah. In some way, the American side, which is engaged in searching for ways to reach a peaceful settlement, will inform us," Peskov told journalists, commenting on reports about the possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and White House Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

According to the Russian Presidential Press Secretary, if this happens, Russia will announce it.

Earlier, Peskov stated that Russia and the United States would not be holding negotiations this week in Saudi Arabia. He also said that the restoration of Russia-US relations is still in its early stages, and a long and difficult path lies ahead.

Negotiations in Saudi Arabia

Today, negotiations are taking place in Saudi Arabia between the Ukrainian and American delegations. According to US President Donald Trump, he expects positive results from the negotiations in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Ukraine will have to cede the territories seized by Russia since 2014 as part of a peace agreement.

On February 18, negotiations between US and Russian delegations took place in Riyadh. They lasted approximately 4.5 hours and were the first meeting of such a level since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

The second meeting took place on February 27 in Istanbul, Türkiye.
