Russia announces date and location for next round of Ukraine talks

Russia has proposed holding a second round of ceasefire negotiations with Ukraine on Monday, June 2, in Istanbul, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
According to him, the Russian delegation, led by Vladimir Medinsky, is ready to present a memorandum to the Ukrainian delegation during the second round of renewed direct talks in Istanbul this coming Monday, June 2.
"The Russian side, as agreed, has promptly worked out a corresponding memorandum outlining our position on all aspects of a reliable solution of the root causes of the crisis," he stated.
Russia's memorandum on ceasefire
During the talks in Istanbul on May 16, the Ukrainian and Russian delegations agreed to prepare written proposals for a possible ceasefire.
Later, following a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow was drafting a memorandum outlining its vision for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, including potential timelines for ending the war.
On May 24, Russia's Foreign Ministry stated that work on the document was nearly complete. According to the ministry, the memorandum will outline Moscow's key positions on halting hostilities. However, Ukraine has not yet received the document.
Ukraine's Presidential Office has voiced concern that Russia may include unacceptable terms in the memorandum, particularly those that could compromise Ukraine's sovereignty.
Reuters previously reported what Putin might include in the list to end the war in Ukraine.
Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov had called the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, to discuss the memorandum, containing Russia's proposals for a future peace agreement, including possible deadlines for ending the war.
Medinsky, however, claimed the opposite. He said that he was the one who initiated the call to Umerov.
