Romanian President Nicușor Dan has published images of drone debris that struck a residential apartment building in the city of Galați on the night of May 29. According to state experts, the drone is a Russian Geran-2.
The president says the conclusion is based on a consistent body of technical evidence.
Cyrillic markings reading "Geran-2" were found on the recovered fragments. Analysis of electronic components, navigation systems, control modules, the engine, and structural elements showed similarities — in some cases identity — with other Geran-2 drones previously found in Romania and confirmed to be of Russian manufacture.
The report also notes that the manufacturing labeling, technical inscriptions, structural features, and materials correspond to those used in the same production process for the Geran-2 drones analyzed in previous years.

Physical and chemical analyses confirmed the presence of the same types of materials and fuel that have repeatedly been identified in devices of this series.
"The fact that such a device struck a residential apartment building in Romania, causing injuries and material damage, is of particular seriousness, and the sole responsible party is Russia," President Nicușor Dan said.
The president emphasized that the safety of Romanian citizens and the integrity of national territory are fundamental state obligations and will be firmly defended.
Romania will share the findings of the investigation with allies and relevant structures within NATO and the European Union.
According to Dan, the country will continue to work with its partners to strengthen security on the Alliance's eastern flank and will not ignore or downplay any incident that threatens citizens' lives, national security, or sovereignty.
Earlier, on the night of May 29, during a Russian attack on Ukraine, a Russian drone struck the roof of a residential building in Galați. A fire broke out on the 10th floor, and two people were injured.
Romanian military officials said they were unable to intercept the drone in time, as only four minutes passed between detection and impact.
The incident was condemned by NATO, the United States, and the EU, while Bucharest requested that the Alliance speed up the delivery of air defense systems.
In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova threatened Romania with "retaliation," while Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council Dmitry Medvedev cynically said that EU countries "should shut up" on the issue.
