The Ukrainian Armed Forces have received RH1412 shells from the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall for the first time. According to Rheinmetall, this is the latest addition to the company’s artillery portfolio.

The German conglomerate emphasizes that this is the first time it has supplied artillery ammunition to Ukraine from its plant in Unterluss. Until now, deliveries had been made from other facilities within the company’s production network.

The shipment consists of a small five-digit quantity, though the exact volume has not yet been disclosed. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also received propellant charges manufactured at other Rheinmetall facilities.

Over 50% of the order has already been delivered, and the remainder is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2026.

The RH1412 shells are the newest product in Rheinmetall’s artillery portfolio.

The main advantages of the RH1412 are that they:

  • Are compatible with various 155-mm artillery systems
  • Have a long firing range
  • Have demonstrated truly high effectiveness.

To meet the growing demand for modern 155-mm shells and propellant charges, Rheinmetall continues to actively invest in expanding the capacity of its existing facilities and constructing new production sites.

Rheinmetall is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of large-caliber ammunition and actively cooperates with Ukraine.

Ukraine recently placed an order with Rheinmetall for shells worth tens of millions of euros.

Germany is allocating 300 million euros to support a Czech initiative to procure and supply ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Russia is demanding millions of euros from Rheinmetall through its own court.
