Reuters learns how many ATACMS missiles Ukraine used for its first strike on Russia
Ukrainian soldiers today, November 19, used ATACMS missiles for the first time to strike Russia. A total of eight missiles were launched, Reuters reports.
The media outlet claims that information about Ukraine's use of eight ATACMS missiles for the first strike on Russian territory was disclosed by an unnamed US official.
According to the official, Russia managed to intercept only two of the eight missiles. The target of the Ukrainian attack was an arsenal in the Bryansk region.
Permission for Strikes on Russia
Just a few days ago, Western media reported that the Biden administration allowed Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles for strikes on Russian territory.
Later, Axios reported that, according to Washington's decision, the use of ATACMS would be limited to the Kursk region.
Only today, November 19, US Deputy Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere, Brian A. Nichols, confirmed the lifting of restrictions for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a source within Ukraine’s Defense Forces told RBC-Ukraine today about the first Ukrainian strike using ATACMS missiles, targeting a facility in the Bryansk region.
