Rescue efforts continue in Ukrainian city of Ternopil after deadly Russian attack: 28 dead, 16 missing

Search-and-rescue efforts have been ongoing in Ternopil for the third day after the Russian attack on November 19. Contact with 16 people has still not been established, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported.
Rescuers are working across the entire area of the destroyed part of the building, on the 5th–6th floors, examining every meter by hand, with tools and equipment, the DSNS reported.
As of 7 a.m. on November 21, approximately 638 tons of construction debris had been removed.
A total of 181 rescuers and 52 units of equipment have been deployed to eliminate the consequences.
The human toll remains tragic: 28 people are confirmed dead, including three children, and 94 are injured, including 18 children.
Forty-six people have been rescued, among them seven children.
Meanwhile, contact with 16 individuals has still not been established.

Russian strike on Ternopil
On the night of November 19, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Ternopil using missiles and attack drones.
As a result, residential buildings were damaged, with fatalities and injuries reported. In one apartment building, parts of the structure partially collapsed, and search-and-rescue operations have continued for a third day.
According to the Air Force, Russia attacked Ternopil with Kh-101 missiles.
It is currently known that 28 people were killed in the strike on the apartment building, including three children, and more than 90 others were injured.
Ternopil has declared days of mourning from November 19 to 21 for those killed in the attack by Russian forces.
