The missiles were launched from six Tu-95MS bombers (based at Olenya) and four Tu-160 bombers (based at Engels and Ukrainka), with launches carried out from the Vologda and Astrakhan regions.
Law enforcement agencies are examining the wreckage of the Russian missiles to document and investigate the new terrorist attack against peaceful Ukrainians.
As of 04:00 p.m., authorities had identified the wreckage of one of the cruise missiles that struck a nine-story building. The missile was manufactured in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Air Force noted that Russian Kh-101 missiles contain components produced by companies in the US, China, Taiwan, Germany, the Netherlands, and other countries.
Military officials added that such tragedies could have been avoided if Russia had not found ways to bypass Western sanctions.
The Kh-101 is a long-range cruise missile developed in Russia. It is launched from strategic bombers, including the Tu-95MS and Tu-160.
The missile employs stealth technology, flies at low altitudes, and has a range of several thousand kilometers.
The strike on Ternopil
On the night of November 19, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, with Ternopil among the targeted locations.
The strike destroyed one high-rise building, and another apartment block caught fire.
At least 25 people were killed, and more than 70 were injured.
Further details on the aftermath of the attack can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
