Republicans win majority of seats in US House of Representatives
Following the election results, the Republican Party managed to retain the majority in the House of Representatives. It has already secured at least 218 seats, Voice of America reports.
Republicans secured a majority of 218 seats in the House of Representatives following election victories in Arizona and California, whose final results were announced today, November 14.
This gives Republicans a majority in the US Senate and the House of Representatives.
Vote counting is still ongoing, and Republicans could gain additional seats in the House. Currently, Democrats hold 208 seats.
Democrats acknowledge defeat
Yesterday, November 13, CNN reported that Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries acknowledged that a victory for his party in the House of Representatives was "unlikely."
He also took responsibility for the loss.
Additionally, it was reported last week that Donald Trump won the presidential election, receiving significantly more votes than Kamala Harris.
