Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is open to peace negotiations with Ukraine, but all goals of the "special military operation" must be achieved. Peskov made the statement at a briefing for Indian media ahead of the Russia–India summit in New Delhi.

According to Peskov, Moscow highly values the US administration's peace initiatives aimed at finding a political and diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis.

At the same time, he emphasized that any negotiations regarding Ukraine must be conducted only under the condition of achieving all of Russia's strategic goals and eliminating the causes of the conflict that led to the start of the "special military operation."

"For us, this is of great importance, since Russia remains open to peace negotiations. But through peace negotiations, we must achieve our goals and eliminate the primary causes of the military operation," Peskov stated.

Thus, the Kremlin stresses that any agreements regarding Ukraine must take into account Russia's position and its key demands.

Talks between the US envoys and Putin in Moscow

In a few hours, a meeting will begin in Moscow between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the special envoy of the American leader, Steven Witkoff.

Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, has also traveled to Moscow.

Neither of the US peacemakers has Senate approval, and neither possesses traditional diplomatic training, but Trump considers them the most effective mediators capable, in his words, of negotiating a deal.

The visit of Trump's special envoy to Moscow will take place after nearly two weeks of negotiations on the new US peace plan for Ukraine.
