The Russian President Vladimir Putin once again spoke about Russia’s "latest" weapons, including the medium-range missile Oreshnik, the Kremlin chief made this statement at a ceremony honoring the developers of the Burevestnik cruise missile and the Poseidon underwater drone.

According to Putin, Russia is supposedly fulfilling all its plans to "develop advanced weapons systems and expand the defense-industrial complex."

He mentioned that Russia has "created and deployed on combat duty the latest strategic missile system Avangard."

"We have created and deployed on duty, and begun serial production of the Oreshnik medium-range missile system," he said.

At the same time, he claimed that intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched missiles "have been equipped with modern systems to overcome missile defense."

Putin also boasted that next year, Russia will deploy the heavy intercontinental missile system Sarmat on combat duty.

"Finally, Russia is acquiring both the unlimited-range cruise missile Burevestnik and the unmanned underwater vehicle Poseidon with nuclear power plants. All our plans are being fulfilled,” the Russian President added.

What Putin said earlier

The Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly mentioned Russia’s "latest" weapons over the past few weeks. Initially, he spoke about the cruise missile Burevestnik, which he claimed has "no analogues in the world."

This missile is supposedly equipped with a nuclear power plant and can cover "extremely long distances."

A few days later, the Kremlin chief said that Russia had conducted "successful" tests of the underwater drone Poseidon, which is also allegedly equipped with a nuclear power plant.

As for the Oreshnik, it is notable that the Kremlin chief claims the missile has been in serial production since 2024.
