Putin boasts about mass production of Oreshnik missile complex: Ukraine comments

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has once again announced the serial production of the medium-range missile system Oreshnik, according to the Russian President's statement and the Head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD), Andriy Kovalenko.
What Putin says
At a meeting with journalists, the Kremlin leader claimed that Russia had allegedly manufactured the first serial model of the new missile system Oreshnik and that it had already been "delivered to the troops."
Putin asserts that serial production of the system has begun.
"The first thing I want to say on this matter: we have manufactured the first serial Oreshnik complex, the first serial missile. It has already been delivered to the troops. The series is now launched," Putin stated.
Reaction from CCD
The Center for Countering Disinformation drew attention to Putin's statement regarding the launch of serial production of the Oreshnik missile system. They emphasized that the Russian President is concealing the facts about the system's failed tests.
"About Oreshnik - that's especially laughable. For some reason, Putin doesn't mention that the second launch was a failure and Oreshnik didn’t fly. And now we're hearing about full-scale serial production," noted Kovalenko.
Putin had already claimed the start of serial production of Oreshnik both in November 2024 and again in June 2025.
What we know about Oreshnik missile system
Russia first used the Oreshnik missile complex on November 21, 2024, during a strike on Dnipro. After the attack, the Kremlin leader effectively confirmed a combat test of the new type of weapon.
Since then, Russian politicians and propaganda media have systematically used this missile as an intimidation tool, threatening its repeated use.
The Oreshnik is a medium-range ballistic missile of the surface-to-surface class, and is presumably a modernized version of the RS-26 Rubezh missile. It is believed to be capable of carrying either a nuclear or conventional warhead.
There is not much information about the missile's technical characteristics. According to Putin, the missile is allegedly capable of striking targets at speeds of up to Mach 10, and its maximum range may reach 5,500 kilometers.
