The Head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, reported that despite the announcement of an Easter ceasefire by Russia, fighting continues on all frontline directions.

Kovalenko stated that even after Russian President Vladimir Putin's declaration of an Easter ceasefire, fighting continues across all fronts. According to him, particularly intense shelling has been recorded in eastern Ukraine.

"Russians continue to fire along the frontline, as they did before. The heaviest fighting is in the East," he emphasized.

Putin’s Easter ceasefire

Earlier today, on April 19, Russia announced a temporary ceasefire for the period of Orthodox Easter, which will be in effect from 6:00 PM, Moscow time, on April 19 to midnight on April 21.

The Kremlin stated that this ceasefire was introduced for humanitarian reasons and emphasized that the ceasefire would only apply if it was "reciprocated by the Kyiv regime."

In response, Ukraine warned that it does not trust the words of the Kremlin due to numerous violations of previous agreements with Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that for Ukraine, actions, not words, are what matter, and reiterated that Kyiv had agreed to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire back in March, which Russia refused.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha added that Ukraine's position remains unchanged: peace on Moscow's terms is not possible without concrete actions, not just statements.
