Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of an Easter ceasefire. However, Russian strike drones continue to be detected in the skies over Ukraine.

"Regarding Putin's latest attempt to play with people's lives, an air alert is currently spreading across Ukrainian territory. At 5:15 PM Kyiv time, Russian strike drones were detected in our skies," Zelenskyy noted.

He explained that Ukrainian air defense and aviation have already begun to respond.

"Shaheds in our sky are a true reflection of Putin's attitude toward Easter and people's lives," he concluded.

Putin's Easter ceasefire

Today, April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the implementation of the so-called Easter ceasefire. According to his order, all hostilities by Russia are to cease from 6:00 PM Moscow time on April 19 until midnight on April 21.

The Kremlin emphasized that the ceasefire would only be in effect if it is "reciprocated by the Kyiv regime," effectively placing the responsibility for any breakdown of the truce on Ukraine.

However, shortly after this announcement, part of Ukraine’s territory, including Kyiv, was covered by an air alert.

Enemy strike drones of the Shahed type were detected in the sky, and Ukrainian air defense and aviation immediately began working on the targets.
