Power was suddenly cut off in Sevastopol without a schedule or prior warning to residents, according to Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-installed governor of the city.
Why the power was cut
According to Razvozhayev, the restrictions were introduced due to an overload of the power grid outside the region.
"By order of the dispatcher of the Black Sea Regional Dispatch Administration (a branch of the System Operator of the Unified Energy System Joint Stock Company), a temporary electricity supply restriction has been introduced in Sevastopol," Razvozhayev wrote.
The stated purpose is to prevent an accident across the entire power system.
No outage schedule
The outage schedule by address is not yet known.
"As soon as it becomes available, it will be published on the Sevastopolenergo (the city's electricity provider - ed.) channel," Razvozhayev said.
Residents were urged not to use high-power electrical appliances.
Meanwhile, following an overnight airstrike on Crimea, loud explosions were heard in several parts of the peninsula. What exactly was targeted is being clarified.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently made a statement about Crimea that intrigued many. He did not disclose the details but stressed that the operation on the peninsula had been carefully planned and that Russia would be forced to choose peace.
