Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 14: +1,700 troops and 2,124 drones

Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues to come at a high cost, with its forces losing troops and large amounts of military equipment every day. Ukraine's military has released the latest figures.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 14, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel ‒ nearly 1,508,600 (+1,700)
- Tanks ‒ 12,345 (+1)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,331 (+1)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,683 (+2)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 148,807 (+548)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,615 (+12)
- Artillery systems ‒ 49,752 (+74)
- MLRS ‒ 2,127 (+7)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,637 (+2)
- Aircraft ‒ 442
- Helicopters ‒ 356
- UAVs (operational-tactical level) ‒ 516,441 (+2,124)
- Cruise missiles ‒ 5,111

Frontline situation
Ukrainian forces seized the initiative on the battlefield in 2026, nearly wiping out Russia's gains and launching counteroffensive operations in several areas, according to a report from ISW. Since March, Ukrainian forces have virtually eliminated Russia's net territorial gains.
Meanwhile, on the night of September 13, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck two Russian oil refineries in Krasnodar Krai and Tatarstan. Fires were reported at the facilities.
