Just one phone call could end Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, stated Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, according to RMF FM.

He explained that ending the war in Ukraine would only require Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to withdraw his troops and a single phone call to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov.

That's why, according to Sikorski, ending the war in Ukraine is easier than resolving the conflict in the Middle East.

When asked whether the chances of Putin making that call to Gerasimov are increasing, the Polish foreign minister replied that "they grow when the Russian economy starts to slow down."

"Ukraine has shown that for ten years it has been holding Putin back in Donbas. Putin will not win. We must show that we are ready to support Ukraine in the medium term and enforce our Western sanctions on Russian oil, gas, and technology," Sikorski added.

Peace deal on Gaza

On October 13, US President Donald Trump and three Middle Eastern leaders signed a peace agreement on the Gaza Strip.

The signing took place during a peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

"I thought this was probably going to be the toughest, and maybe in many ways it was, but we had a lot of big talent. We had an amazing array of talent, and we were helped by, in particular, the countries represented at this table," Trump said.

It was also reported yesterday that Hamas handed over all hostages it had held since October 2023.

At the same time, Trump hinted that after Gaza, he plans to turn his focus to ending the war in Ukraine.
